Product Details

Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' is a hybrid philodendron with a unique leaf structure and striking variegation. The leaves of this plant are arrowhead or heart-shaped with deep lobes and a glossy, vibrant green colour. With variegated varieties, you can expect a beautiful mix of yellow, white, and green. As with many Philodendron varieties, 'Florida Beauty' is a climbing or vining plant and will benefit from a moss pole or some form of support.

Here is a general care guide for Philodendron 'Florida Beauty':

1. Light: 'Florida Beauty' prefers bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can cause the leaves to yellow and lose their vibrant colour, while too little light can lead to leggy growth. If your plant is variegated, it will need a bit more light than its non-variegated counterparts, as variegation reduces the surface area for photosynthesis.

2. Water: Water thoroughly when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch. Philodendrons prefer their soil to be consistently moist but not waterlogged, and they're quite sensitive to overwatering, which can lead to root rot.

3. Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, rich in organic matter. You can use a commercial potting mix designed for aroids or indoor plants, or make your own by mixing equal parts of peat moss (or coco coir), perlite, and compost.

4. Temperature: Philodendrons prefer warm temperatures between 65-85°F (18-29°C). They're not frost-tolerant and should be kept away from cold drafts.

5. Humidity: Higher humidity levels will benefit your 'Florida Beauty'. A level of 40-60% is ideal. You can increase humidity by placing a water-filled tray near the plant, using a room humidifier, or occasionally misting the plant.

6. Fertilizer: Feed your Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' every two weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced houseplant fertilizer. Dilute the fertilizer to half-strength to avoid burning the roots. Reduce feeding in the fall and winter when growth slows down.

7. Pruning: Regularly prune yellow or brown leaves to keep the plant looking its best and to encourage new growth. You can also prune it back if it becomes too leggy or overgrown.

8. Propagation: The easiest way to propagate Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' is through stem cuttings. Cut just below a leaf node, and you can root the cutting in water or directly in soil.

Please note that every plant is unique and its needs can slightly vary based on its environment (light, humidity, etc.). Pay attention to your plant's health and adjust your care routine as needed.
