Brian Fisk, president of Verified Maintenance in Portland, Oregon, claims, "The proposed code changes are antiquated and designed only to stop certain parts of the industry and do little or nothing to create constructive change in the safety and training level of our industry." These changes, in fact, demonstrated how little the committee members really knew about the complexities of the profession, believing things like the bosun chair were dangerous when by engineering standards, really weren't!
